Good voice changer apps are few and far between. The irony is that the smartphone is a perfect vessel for creating and storing that kind of audio, but the audience is admittedly small. This is a difficult topic to research. There are some open source voice changing engines out there and the vast majority of voice changer apps on Android use the same one so most of them do the same thing. However, there are some developers who have done some decent apps that can change your voice in a variety of ways. Here are the best voice changer apps for Android!

Voice Changer by AndroidRock is an above average voice changer app. It supports dozens of effects, including bee, old man, martian, fan, hoarse, drunk, underwater, and many others. It works like most voice changer apps. You record some speech and apply a filter. The app also lets you apply filters to previously recorded audio files as well. It works about as well as one could expect. This one is free with no in-app purchases. There are some ads, though.
Baviux Voice Changer with Effects
Voice Modulator Download
Price: Free / $2.99
Baviux Voice Changer is actually one of the most popular pure voice changers on Android. The includes nearly four dozen effects in total along with a simple user interface and plenty of other options. You can record your audio and apply the effects as you want. Afterward, you can send it to whoever you want (as long as the app supports audio files), set it as a ringtone or notification tone, and just save it. You can also import audio files if you want to alter something you already have. The app runs for $2.99 for the premium version and it's free if you use Google Play Pass.
RoboVox
Price: Free / $1.49
RoboVox is a semi-decent voice changer app. It was recommended to us by one of our readers. This one features a design that we're not huge fans of. However, we do quite enjoy the features. It has 32 voice filters that do everything from changing your voice pitch to adding various filter types. You can also control the strength of each filter for varying effects. The app also features a voice recorder, the ability to save sounds as a ringtone, a parrot mode, and more. It started out with a few bugs, but it seems to be doing a lot better these days. We're excited to see how far this one gets.
Snapchat
Price: Free (with ads)
Snapchat is definitely the most popular voice changer app. It's mostly an image messaging service. However, it has a bunch of filters. It can change your appearance, voice, and even environment. It also features Snapchat Memories. That lets you save snaps instead of losing them for good. That gives you an option to record yourself making goofy noises in weird voices instead of just doing one-off videos for your followers and friends. The app is a massive battery drain and the iOS version is better. However, it's also free to download and use. There are ads, but you probably already guessed that.
Voice Changer by Handy Tools Studio
Price: Free (with ads)
This voice changer app isn't half bad. It has quite a few decent, if simple voice effects, including popular ones like old man, robot, alien, bee, and chipmunk (think Alvin and the Chipmunks). It works like most others. You record your voice, add the effect, and have some fun with it. It also has some less silly effects like a karaoke reverb setting to add a bit of echo to your singing voice. The app is entirely free with ads, but the ads are a little bit annoying. We wish there was a good, cheap premium version to remove those.

This is a high-quality 14-voice Real-Time Voice Changer for Cosplay (now with Noise Gate filter button). It can run in the background, or with screen off. Run voice changer on Android device, and output to other devices (click Help – Gaming/Cosplay for detailed instructions/diagrams):
– Noise Gate: Use as a low-cost low-latency Noise Gate filter for live Podcasting/Broadcast (with/without voice changing). Some voices benefit from Noise Gate (Venomous, Exterminator).
– PC gaming line-in: use AUX cable
– PS4 gaming controller: use AUX and Y-splitter. Use as USB mic to PS4 is easier (see Help – Gaming/Cosplay).
– XBox gaming controller: use AUX and Y-splitter (see Help diagrams).
– Cosplay: use Y-splitter (for lapel mic/external speaker). Click Help – Gaming/Cosplay for mic/speaker suggestions.
– Mobile Gaming: use AUX and Y-splitter (see Run on separate device)
– Phone Calls/Skype/WhatsApp voice chat: use AUX and Y-splitter (see Run on separate device)
Run on separate device: You need to run mobile game on separate device, because Android does not allow two apps on same device to use mic/input at same time (you also cannot pipe audio from a voice changing app to another app/game on the same device). For voice changing over phone/voice chat, also need a separate device (smart/dumb phone).
TEST: First plug in earphones, and then click Record (red) or Live (mic icon) button. You will hear yourself in earphones. This happens because the Settings – Output Settings – Listen to Recording (Headset) setting is On by default. If you plug earphones after clicking Record, it will not mirror to the earphones (this is done for efficiency reasons).
Force output: If an AUX cable or Y-splitter is not being recognized as a ‘headset' by android, click Settings – Output Settings – Listen to Recording (Always) and turn it On (it is off by default). I tune videos. Make sure something is plugged into earphone jack, otherwise there will be audio feedback (screeching sounds) when click Record/Live.
Click on a voice to change instantly between voices, or click on No Effects for no effects:

– Collum (not affiliated with Gollum/Smeagol)
– Smug (not affiliated with Smaug)
– Brog (not affiliated with the Borg)
– Venomous (not affiliated with Venom)
We disavow any and all affiliation with these character voices. They are the property of their respective owners. Using Dark Father, with some voice acting effort, you can mimic a voice that sounds like Darth Vader.
Each voice is individually customisable: You can create entirely new voices by simply adjusting the Pitch and Modulator settings for each voice! For example, you can use the Venomous voice to make a Lion's roar type voice.
Click Reset to reset settings for that voice, or click Settings – Reset Settings to reset everything back to default settings.
